I began my career as an in-house copywriter for a publishing company. As the only copywriter in-house, I had an amazing opportunity to learn the skills of my trade on a broad scale. In six years, I worked on more than 600 marketing campaigns.
From there, I became more interested in website work, digital content creation, and email marketing. I pursued development in those fields, working first at an e-commerce agency and then at a startup. I rose to a management position in both cases.
I am always learning new techniques through online courses, certifications (ex. Klaviyo Product Certified), and actively using new and emerging marketing technologies (ex. Chat GPT).
Email Marketing

I have spent the last 7 years becoming an expert in email marketing strategy, email deliverability, and email creation. After managing this process to list segments of approximately 300k in my former role at MasterMind, I learned so much about list strength, email layout strategies, and conversion rates.
At ACTIV agency, I managed external client relations, working directly with clients to develop email marketing calendars with the goal of client retention. I was also a key player in email creation and execution, deploying regular nurture and promotional email campaigns for these clients. I developed effective strategies for automated flow development, in some cases with huge impact on passive revenue.

While working at the digital marketing agency ACTIV, I took a small home decor brand's functionally dead email list and transformed email into a successful revenue stream within 2 years. Through expert marketing strategies, I increased open rate engagement, improved email delivery rate, and increased monthly revenue from their automated email flows from an average of $2k a month to over $23k per month.

At a corporation like John Deere (current contract), copywriting involves a lot of research, strategy, and proofing through many departments. As the sole copywriter for the Small Ag department, I recently created all copywriting materials for the July 2024 launch of the 6M tractor--partnering with in-house product experts and a design counterpart.

At Thomson Reuters, I worked for the FindLaw department writing blogs for lawyer client websites throughout the United States. In my year there, I researched, wrote, and published over 450 blogs--averaging 4 to 6 blogs per day.
This was particularly detail-oriented work as it required researching the laws and statues for the state where the office was located. Then, my job was to find a way to tie their main practice focus (ex. Family Law) to a socially relevant interest piece that was still legally informative - the goal was for the average individual to click into the blog while scrolling social media. The strategy was a major challenge here: Fnd a way to relate the law to the average person's life. This taught me so much about writing for the benefit of the customer.

Marketing Philosophy
When it comes to content and product marketing, it’s all about research and analytics for me. You need to get to know your customer on an intimate level in order to market your product or services effectively. Then you have to A/B test obsessively to discover what speaks to them in advertising. I look at analytics for everything I do, from strategy to review.
Writing and design are by nature creative pursuits. However, it’s also vital to establish an efficient creative process—from strategy development with creative briefs to proofing procedures. I’m passionate about finding ways to make work go as smoothly and seamlessly as possible.
